With Tarn dealt with for the time being and his own systems running closer to 100% again, Megatron's been spending more time prowling around outside keeping an eye out for trouble than before, you know, just in case Tarn isn't as down and out as they thought, or anybody equally godawful decides to show up and stir shit, so that he can beat their heads in (he has kind of missed being able to beat in heads) and say 'I told you so' to any Autobots still dubious about his fool's energon detox decisions.

Well, OK, it's partially that and partially that he's got a lot on his mind right now and this is a reasonable excuse to spend some time alone with his thoughts. WHICH MEANS ITS AN IDEAL TIME TO INTERRUPT HIM, GET TO IT

(That said he may also be skulking around Maccadam's to make sure none of the people he's supposed to be responsible for are starting shit. Alternatively I am sure I can come up with an excuse for him to be anywhere you want so if you want something more specific feel free to hit me up/post whatever kind of starter u like, you know. im flexible and so is this post)

As Megatron is wandering about, so is Starscream. Unfortunately the seeker doesn't realize the former warlord is in the same area. (And to be fair, he's only heard rumors. None of which he's sure he believes.)

So he just happens to round the corner of a building at the same convenient time Megatron is walking past. This results in him almost smacking directly into Megatron, or at least very very close to it.

"Gah!"

Which okay, it's just Megatron, there is no reason to be startled even if he just stares like a deer caught in headlights. Is that an Autobot ensignia? He's pretty sure it is. But his initial shock only lasts for a few seconds before he opens his stupid mouth again. He just has to say something.

"Is it just me or is there something different about you?"

Starscream.

Megatron narrows his eyes.

The familiar colour scheme has him assuming at first that this is the one he knows, just from somewhere in the past, and he hasn't been less pleased to recognise someone since he ran into Tarn.

"Yes, I've been hearing that a lot," he says, unimpressed. He really doesn't feel like going over the details of his defection for another temporally displaced Cybertronian, especially not this one.

Oh. That look is never good. It usually means 'Starscream I'm going to throw you into the wall for saying that.' But as Megatron hadn't made any sort of move to crush his head, he might get out of this okay.

Not that the possiblity would deter him from speaking out anyway.

"I can't imagine why, silver has always been your color, hasn't it? Well, silver and the irritated scowl you're giving me right at this moment."

Yeah. He'll wait until he's out of arm's distance and then directly bring up the Autobot thing.

God does Megatron wish he could still get away with throwing people into walls.

He sighs.

"How long have you been here?"

"I'm not sure if 'not long enough' or 'too long' is the correct answer. I'm going to take a wild guess that you are from one of those different universes than mine."

He steps around Megatron to get a better look. Hmm. Even the frame design is different. Similar. But different.

Megatron watches him, frowning. He's about to correct him and assert that he is in fact merely from the future, but... no, there are distinct differences, both in his frame and his mannerisms.

He isn't sure whether he's disappointed or relieved.

"Hm," he says, looking him up and down, that frown still firmly on his face. "Yes, it would seem so. I take it you're used to seeing a different badge."

If anything, this Megatron is much ... calmer than he's used to. Its actually sort of weird.

"On you? No. I have to say I expected the Earth to spontaneously explode before that'd ever happen."

On others? Well, there is Jetfire.

"But it's also not the strangest thing I've seen these days. I am surprised team happy good guy would even accept anyone with ... anger management ... problems."

Megatron raises the place where an eyebrow would be if robots had eyebrows in his continuity. "You assume I'm anything like your Megatron. For all you know I might have been an Autobot from the start."

[aerospacecommander]

Starscream merely smirks right back at him.

"True. And I could be the chosen one sent by Primus to save the planet, but somehow I doubt that is the case."

The prodding might be an attempt to see just how far he could push this Megatron. Starscream is rather stupid like that.

"Actually where I've come from you've more or less convinced yourself you are," says Megatron, without smiling. His optics are fixed on him, almost like he's just waiting for Starscream to try something stupid.

[aerospacecommander]

"Wait what? Like seriously? Are we talking in a completely buying into that religious nonsense sort of thing?"

Wow. Despite the fact that their Cybertron was actually the body of Primus, Starscream is totally sure that religion is just stupid.

"So what's his prophecy? I hope its something good." And not about saving the world because ugh.

"Oh, I don't remember the specifics," says Megatron. "He was chosen by a Metrotitan, apparently. I wasn't there." He narrows his eyes. "Don't tell me you have a prophecy too."

Hmm. That is strange. His Megatron would be all over that and pretty much had the covenant of Primus memorized.

"If my crazed Shockwave-escapee clone 'brother' was to be believed, yes. But despite thinking he was an oracle of Primus, his light wasn't quite bright enough ... except for how bright he got when he exploded. Anyway. Lets see, what was it ... 'the sun and its brother shall storm over the new world to reveal the beast and destroy it.' Whatever that means."

Megatron looks at him skeptically. Good grief. He really hopes this kind of thing isn't a universal Starscream constant – maybe he should check with the jittery one.

"Not so much of a believer, hm?"

[aerospacecommander]

"I generally require proof of something's existence before I acknowledge it."

And even then he'd probably still not believe in it. He stares back at Megatron. He's actually rather glad the former Decepticon commander isn't quoting Primus things to him.

"Hmm," says Megatron. He doesn't like this. He's disinclined to trust any Starscream, but he does generally trust that he can deal with them if they become a problem; what makes him more uneasy than the idea of a steadily increasing accumulation of Starscreams is the idea that every new alternate timeline he's presented with presents an additional opportunity for another version of himself, and if the one who attacked Nautica is anything to go by he really doesn't need to face the possibility of more god damn Megatrons.

"Your Megatron," he says abruptly. "What's he like?"

That particular question causes the edge of his mouth to twist up into a smirk. It was like opening a giant can of worms.

A can of worms Starscream just loves talking about.

"Are you sure you trust me to give you an appropriate answer? Not to mention, you might want to sit down. This might take awhile."

This is like a giant dream come true. Starscream gets to tell Megatron just how much he hates Megatron.

He rolls his eyes a little. "I'm sure I can at least trust you to be candid."

[aerospacecommander]

Oh fine. Be that way, Megatron.

"Former gladiator turned warlord who promised conquest, but didn't deliver and instead turned everything into a psychotic obsession with Optimus Prime."

He folds his arms across his chest and gives Megatron a look. Is that good enough?

Megatron frowns slightly, crossing his own arms. Some things don't seem to change, if Megatronus was anything to go by.

... The gladiator thing doesn't change, that is. He is definitely not obsessed with Optimus. Absolutely not. Not THIS guy

"No hint of any kind of... change of spark, beyond that?"

[aerospacecommander]

"Not unless you count only blowing one hole in my chest instead of two," he says with a snort.

Megatron also said something about 'no more petty vengeance' around the sametime. Which was also a riot.

"I see." His optics narrow slightly. So that is something to worry about. "And what about you? Where do your loyalties lie?" A Hilarious Joke,

Oh that's a funny question.

"Me? I like to keep my options open."

Ultimately loyal to himself, though he can be swayed by certain people from time to time.

Megatron snorts. "At least you're honest about it," he says dryly.

"I have never once denied being exactly who I am," Starscream responds with a light shrug.

"And it's not exactly a secret."
