The history between our fraction and theirs is too long. Many will not find this an appealing course of action, myself included. I have killed their friends and they have nearly killed me.

I don't assume to know you have a plan to corral these two groups. For the immediate time, it would be advisable to have us work towards this goal... separately by limiting interactions yet allowing both sides to see individual progress.
