the punch has been spiked, the music is whatever they could scrape together, and there’s bleachers to make out behind. takes place OUTSIDE in the forum so there's plenty of space and people can easily crash it.

prom king is optimus prime, prom queen is pipes.

please behave as irresponsibly as you would at real prom.

"You're using part of his leg to talk. Weird, right?" Well at least they had a moment. Still, this is nice - looking up at Drift and grinning. Something he wasn't sure if he'd have again after Overlord. After Tarn. "Yeah. Guess he's kept it around."

[auramatic]

"Yeah, I've seen it around the medibay, I just didn't think he'd -- " Drift stops, really stops then, still close to Rodimus but no longer moving to the music as a pale light of realization fills his optics. He pulls a hand from around Rodimus to touch light fingers to his throat. He can still feel the scarring on the delicate cabling there. "Wait, he -- ? He never said anything about that..."

[rodders]

Oh my god Drift, can they stop talking about Ratchet when he's trying to dance with you? It's not helping the mood!

"Because it's Ratchet. Seriously, Drift, if you wanna have a chat about how weird it is to be talking with his leg I'm sure he'd love to."

He probably would not love to. But hey, That's not really Rodimus' problem. Right? Right.

[auramatic]

Give him a minute, Rodimus, he's a little preoccupied. Drift's face is still deeply thoughtful, unsure how to take this new information. He'd think Ratchet would mention something like that -- that's significant, cannibalizing your own body to fix someone else -- but... His fingers fall away from his throat, returning to trace lightly over Rodimus' hip.

"You're right, I'll -- talk to him later." Drift smiles a little, but even that small action has the effect of brightening his entire face, optics alight. "Glad we both have our badges back now, at least. You just...didn't look the same without yours."

[rodders]

Rodimus feels his own face relax, lips turning up in a smile to match Drift's. It's easier to do when he's around - the familiarity he missed with what felt like all of him.

"It felt odd. In a good way, I mean, since you had it." If he was the more poetic sort, he would have mentioned that it felt like a bit of him was walking around with Drift - he'd had that badge since the moment Optimus gave it to him after graduating from Autobot Academy. But he's not, so the thought stays unsaid. "Hey, I wasn't the only one wandering around badgeless. It suits you."

The Decepticon symbol scratched into his chassis doesn't count. It never counted.
