Crater

Now Jetfire doesn't quite believe in the supernatural. There must always be a reasonable explanation - through science first and foremost. This is why, even though he is clearly there and standing and not in five million pieces, he doesn't automatically assume some kind of miracle has transpired. He doesn't believe that there is an afterlife so that can't be where he is either. Igniting his thrusters, Jetfire hoists himself up to at least get out of the crater and to get a better viewpoint.

What the scientist sees should be surprising. However, it isn't.  Jetfire can make an educated guess that this is Cybertron. The metallic terrain is all but telling. What he doesn't understand is why there are some signs of organic life. Jetfire wants to get some readings of this planet, this Cybertron. What could have changed the planet so to make organic life sustainable? His nature could get the best of him, if he allows his mind to continue. Instead he needs to focus on finding answers. Is this really Cybertron? If so, then how did he get here?

This isn't the first time he has essentially woken to a crisis after spending a lot of time in stasis. Granted, Jetfire isn't sure that this is the case, but that is the logical assumption. Someone must have been able to salvage something of him after the explosion. Fixed him up. There can't be any other explanation.


In Flight

What's the best way to get a good lay of the land? By taking to the skies, of course. Not only is this testing to see just how well Jetfire's systems are working. From up here, he can see the terrain and maybe find others. That isn't his primary goal. Jetfire is a scientist and explorer and socialization isn't his one of his skill sets. Still, there is something to be said about being in his alt mode and cruising along. If only he had a lab or something. The need to tinker with his sensors so he could pick up appropriate data is strong.

This is going to have to do. Traditional observation might suffice until he can work on some upgrades or something.

"I figured you would jump at the chance," Jetfire replies with a little grin. "An opportunity to prove your superiority over the others."

Face it. Jetfire knows Starscream. He doesn't condone the whole kidnapping idea, but it's not a surprise the other would think of it. Then in the next moment, he sobers up.

"Honestly, I don't think you are behind it. Not now, anyway."

[chickscream]

"And I've never heard of this Matrix," she replies, though apparently this revelation isn't meant to be shocking; she moves right along, commenting, "Just goes to show how different our universes were, right? You'll find a lot of that here."

She tosses it out flippantly, and moves on to another topic, asking, "So, have you ever been to Earth?" If he wants her to go back to that thing she was talking about, he'll have to ask.

[luckyfaceplate]

[It's true. It's like he's perfect for marketing as a toy in a line of toys that is totally not similar to this situation!

But Optimus is glad that he's noticed, as he sees the jet swoop around, tracking it with his eyes as it transforms.

And lo and behold...--

That I am. And you are...Jetfire, correct?

[He hasn't mistaken you for someone else? You're a TAD different.]

[ everyone seems a tad different. either way, it is kind of foolish to at least not pay some level of respect to Prime - no matter the origin. ]

Yes, I am. Though I suppose the real question is 'which Jetfire' and 'which Prime,' isn't it?

[aerospacecommander]

"I want to rule, what point would ruling an empty planet be? It'd be a little boring for me."

Well. This is a little awkward. Starscream finally lands a few feet away.

"So ... care to tell me how you're not dead?"

[airguardian]

"Empty, hmm? It does not seem devoid of life to me."

Yes, he does know what Starscream actually means by empty. Jetfire is being difficult on purpose. They both know it too. This situation isn't what he expects it to be. Jetfire doesn't like puzzles that don't have an actual solution to them. It's likely that he's going to be wracking his mind over this for a while before getting frustrated with the temporal elements of this matter and whatnot.

"I would have to think that somehow I didn't die. You can't bring people back to life, Starscream."

[airguardian]

"After this, I think my logic circuits will need recalibrating," he mutters. Again, things like this should remain in science fiction, shouldn't they?

Jetfire doesn't really want to acknowledge that something like this is even possible without irrefutable proof. As a scientist, he needs to understand how this works. It makes him frustrated and it shows just a little with how he jerks in his flight pattern.

Earth. What a different sort of planet. Granted, Jetfire hadn't really had the opportunity to get to know any Earthlings or experience their culture. However, to say that he had been there for a while would have been a massive understatement.

"For a time I was on Earth, yes. It's quite... Different."

[luckyfaceplate]

[For that, he's thankful. Some things in the universe aren't so different, and Optimus won't argue with that. Jetfire's just one of them.]

I suppose that would be the question. I can see you're not the one of my world.

But who's I'm also not sure of.

[And the same goes for him, certainly.]

I can see you are not from mine. Your frame is a touch slimmer.

[ and there are different parts placed in different places... but that's really about it. ]

How many Starscreams have you encountered?

[aerospacecommander]

"I saw the explosion. And even with all that bulk of yours, there's no way you could have survived my brother's supernova level blow up."

And of there IS a way to bring people back to life, Starscream would like to find it. An evil zombie army might be useful one day.

[airguardian]

"The dead can't come back to life, Starscream. It's impossible."

Don't start with him. This is the guy that saw Primus and still refuses to believe it. There is no way that he had died.

[luckyfaceplate]

[At that, Optimus takes a moment to look himself over. He never considered himself to be slim (although that does make him wonder just what he looks like.

Things to consider at a later date.]

[Maybe three.]

Do you potentially know any of them?

[aerospacecommander]

"You don't know that. The fact that you're here could be exist proof. Also Megatron managed to come back from being a smoldering corpse so."

He folds his arms across his chest and just gives Jetfire a look. Don't start with him either, big guy.

"I would assume that would be because you were not overly thorough and your arrogance blinded you to the fact he might have survived somehow," he countered.

Apologies, Starscream. That was very much within the realm of possibility.

[airguardian]

One of them is - was - an old friend of mine.

[ he knows one of them really well in fact! ]

He is an obnoxious brat, honestly.

[aerospacecommander]

"..."

Starscream's expression falls flat and he just stares at Jetfire. In a way, this was very familiar, like how things were in the past. That also irritated him, he didn't want to think of that sort of thing.

"I shot him in the head and he was drifting in space. Even if the shot hadn't outright killed him, being stuck without repairs in space should have.

[chickscream]

"Yeah, that's not going to help," she tells him, with an unsympathetic laugh. "This place doesn't really make much sense. But go ahead and try! It'll be fun to watch."

Ah, but much more interesting: Earth!

"It's where I've spent my whole life. I want to go back." Is that a note of wistfulness? "This place doesn't even have clouds to dip your wings in... though at least none of you Autobots care about me flying around all the time."

Jetfire is a little oblivious as to why he is getting a look like that. He assumes it is just because he would dare question Starscream's 'greatness' and 'prowess.'

"Still. It's Megatron. It is no different than questioning someone if they had claimed to kill you."

[luckyfaceplate]

That certainly is an accurate statement, however....honest.

[Let's go with honest. Yeah. That's nice.]

At least some things in the multiverse never change...

[aerospacecommander]

"That is completely different and you know it."

If anything, Jetfire is the most difficult mech to put up with, and Starscream almost wished it was possible to strangle him. Too bad Cybertronians don't breathe.

"For one, I don't ever plan on dying."

[airguardian]

Honest is a very nice way of putting it.

[ and Jetfire is overly amused by it. he has no problems with stating how things are. truthfully. ]

I'd say that hopefully he's not causing problems. Then again, if he isn't now then chances are he will in the future and thus it's a moot point. I'm not certain I'd like more than one of those types around.

"You are just fortunate that no one has been able to manage it," Jetfire very nearly sighs. That statement includes himself, of course.

If anything, Starscream is the most difficult mech to put up with. There's no wish of wanting to strangle him... Though some times he wonders if it would have been easier for all of them if one of them had been able to just pull a damn trigger.

"No one plans on dying. I didn't plan on getting put on ice either."

When it comes to Starscream, safe bets are off the table.

[The sad, but true story.]

Would you mind telling me more about your world? About it's state of being?

[aerospacecommander]

"No, but you are the type to walk into that sort of situation," Starscream gestures with his hand as he speaks. Jetfire was forever frustrating.

"In the name of science or something equally stupid. If I recall correctly -- which I do -- it was you who'd want to go poke the strange lifeforms in order to classify them."

[airguardian]

[ well hold on one second, Optimus. Jetfire is actually going to land. sorry that he towers over the Prime. it's just that he is a very, very big guy. ]

I wouldn't really know, truthfully. [ give him a moment to look out at the vast landscape of this planet. ] It's been a long time since I have been out and about in it. I was stranded on Earth for millions of years, trapped in ice.
