Who: Jetfire & You
Where: The Skies || Crater
When: Jetfire's arrival
What: Jetfire being a science nerd
Warnings: Shouldn't be any???

Crater

Now Jetfire doesn't quite believe in the supernatural. There must always be a reasonable explanation - through science first and foremost. This is why, even though he is clearly there and standing and not in five million pieces, he doesn't automatically assume some kind of miracle has transpired. He doesn't believe that there is an afterlife so that can't be where he is either. Igniting his thrusters, Jetfire hoists himself up to at least get out of the crater and to get a better viewpoint.

What the scientist sees should be surprising. However, it isn't.  Jetfire can make an educated guess that this is Cybertron. The metallic terrain is all but telling. What he doesn't understand is why there are some signs of organic life. Jetfire wants to get some readings of this planet, this Cybertron. What could have changed the planet so to make organic life sustainable? His nature could get the best of him, if he allows his mind to continue. Instead he needs to focus on finding answers. Is this really Cybertron? If so, then how did he get here?

This isn't the first time he has essentially woken to a crisis after spending a lot of time in stasis. Granted, Jetfire isn't sure that this is the case, but that is the logical assumption. Someone must have been able to salvage something of him after the explosion. Fixed him up. There can't be any other explanation.

In Flight

What's the best way to get a good lay of the land? By taking to the skies, of course. Not only is this testing to see just how well Jetfire's systems are working. From up here, he can see the terrain and maybe find others. That isn't his primary goal. Jetfire is a scientist and explorer and socialization isn't his one of his skill sets. Still, there is something to be said about being in his alt mode and cruising along. If only he had a lab or something. The need to tinker with his sensors so he could pick up appropriate data is strong.

This is going to have to do. Traditional observation might suffice until he can work on some upgrades or something.

chickscream: (but for all I aspire)

aw yeah flying

A purple jet rolls down out of the sky, dropping into the air ahead of Jetfire and wiggling its wings in greeting before falling back to pace him.

"Haven't seen you around before," Slipstream calls over the space between her and the white-and-red... uh... plane thing? (She can't quite tell if he's supposed to be a jet or a spaceship, though she supposes it also doesn't matter much.

Hopefully, he'll feel the same way about the Decepticon markings on her wings as she does about what his altmode is supposed to be.)

"You new, or have you just been grounded?" she continues, tone more curious than anything else.

Starscream is doing his usual fly around everywhere when he picks up a familiar color scheme in the distance. It couldn't be, could it? But in any case he zips forward with his thrusters ignited to full power.

And inwardly embarrassing himself a little on how fast he jumped on this. When he gets near the creator and the figure there, he instantly transforms, though he stays hovering up high.

"Jetfire?!"

That certainly looked like Jetfire. But he got taken out in that explosion. Maybe this is another Jetfire and Starscream will just kill him.

Or maybe manipulate him.

Or maybe manipulate him and then kill him.

Best friend forever.

haha man i don't even have enough icons for a full free account

[personal profile] chickscream 2015-03-01 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Let's call it that, then," she agrees, and rolls to fly upside-down above him, tone conversational. "Anyone gotten around to telling you about this place yet? I'm pretty new myself, but it isn't too bad, you know. No wars to get caught up in, Megatron's learning to be a nurse, the skies are open and empty..."

She assumes literally everyone knows who Megatron is, because who doesn't know who Megatron is?
chickscream: (you've had your fun)

it is okay friend we will carry on somehow

[personal profile] chickscream 2015-03-01 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I know, right? I was like, 'No way! Megatron? Big grey and scary Megatron? Putting patches on scrapes? You're kidding me!' But no, it's true, I swear." She laughs, her rough voice surprisingly cheerful.

"Anyway, I've been told it's all war-torn and dead and empty. I don't have any memories of Cybertron to compare it to, so I've gotta take other bots at their word, but that doesn't seem too wrong, and I sure haven't met any bots that're from here, even if they're from a Cybertron."
chickscream: (of things I can do)

/pats gently

"What? Oh. I wasn't made on Cybertron," she clarifies, casually, "and the guy who made me hadn't been home in a few million years."

Also, yeah, Nurse Megatron is the most hilariously terrifying thing in the universe, but Slipstream's been in too good of a mood to dwell on the bad parts of that idea. It could be worse, after all. It could be any other Decepticon ever! At least Megatron's got a good processor in his noggin.

"Before you say anything else, I had nothing to do with this."

Starscream drifted in closer to Jetfire, but still kept a reasonable distance. He still wasn't sure if this was his Jetfire or not. Could be.

"Do you have any idea how you got here?"
chickscream: (that hasn't yet become)

[personal profile] chickscream 2015-03-02 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Do you actually want to know?"

It's not a secret, really, not when her loudmouth brothers have gone skittering all over the universe and gotten captured by Autobots and generally been useless. She's perfectly willing to let this big fellow in on how Starscream did it!

"And they are, I guess. Just not whatever people were here before." In jet mode, she can't actually shrug, but she manages to infuse shrugginess into her voice.
chickscream: (I never wanted to be like you)

"My name's Slipstream," she introduces herself, "and the secret is that I don't have a spark at all."

Oh, she hopes he does an intense double-take at that-- maybe wobbles in his trajectory, maybe squawks a noise of surprise-- so she can laugh before forging on, "My creator got a chunk of the Allspark stuck in him, and he split shards off of it to shove into some protoforms to make me and my brothers. It was a pretty brute-force way of making us, but it worked-- if you don't mind that all my brothers are awful and we've all only got one personality trait apiece."

She does a gentle roll, falling back in beside him, before it occurs to her to ask, "You know what the Allspark is, right?" In a universe where Megatron tended to the sick, anything was possible, after all.

She bursts into laughter at his stalling, and again at his question, wobbling a little in the air. "Are you kidding? I feel fantastic!"

It's even true. Having an open sky and no enemies to bother her, having company she doesn't loathe with every wire in her body, having conversations-- not being alone and hiding-- she's never been happier in her short, short life, and only her desire to not look silly keeps her from throwing herself into loops and corkscrews right then and there.

Her voice still full of laughter, she continues, "Anyways, the Allspark makes sparks in the first place; having a bit of it in my chest seems to work just fine. It's just a more direct path from energy to life, right?"

"You were in a CR Chamber. It was for your own, ahhhh ... good." Yes, that was it. He will go with that.

He shrugs his shoulders in a relaxed fashion before folding his arms across his chest. Maybe he should actually land to continue this conversation, but nah. Not yet.

"I have no idea how we are here, and haven't been able to get much information from the other displaced 'locals.'"

[Optimus had seen someone pass overhead, and for a moment, had considered it was just Starscream (or one of them). There weren't too many jets to take count of just yet (oh how wrong you were, Optimus), but white...that certainly gave a tip off.

But as it comes closer into view, Optimus can't help but narrow his optics in curiosity. This one was...certainly larger than Starscream, and vaguely familiar. He doesn't bother to wave him down, but he certainly gets to higher ground to be noticed, eyes firmly locked onto the jet.

If he was correct...this would certainly be a welcome face. He just hoped he was.]

"We are on a Cybertron where the population murdered each other out of existence. And there are people from alternate Cybertrons other than our own."

He can't comment on the organics because he hadn't met any yet and who cares about them anyway.

Proof? Of course Jetfire would ask for that like the stupid overly scientific jet he is. Starscream just gives him a 'you've got to be kidding me' sort of expression.

"What do you want me to do? Go kidnap my alternate and throw him at your feet so that you'll believe me? Look around you, Jetfire. This isn't some devious plot of mine."
