Video: A formal call to the Decepticons of this lovely city

I've been told time and time again that this war is over, but I have yet to see it beyond a tolerance teetering on a knife's edge between episodes of unnecessary, extreme violence. We can do better than this - we can do better than wallowing in our circumstance.

To the Decepticons here who still follow my word: If you can hear this, now is the time for you to break out of this malaise and act. I am in need of your skills, and we've remained scattered in this rubble for far too long. 

We, of all of us here, should understand how to build something grand from nothing.

It is time we take that first step.

I have a reason for doing this. You have to trust me, it won't be the same as before.

You know why I have to hold my position on this. Millions of our kind died by your hand. Maybe not yours personally--you are different now then what you turned out to be.

But you are Megatron, and that's a legacy you have to deal with, as unfortunate as it is.

I trust you, as Orion did. But can I trust everything else?

Abandon the Decepticon cause, Megatron. Make a new one. That is how I'll know if what you want is truly different than what you became.

I will not abandon the people who were so inspired by my work that they would die for me, Optimus. I won't spit in their eyes and tell them all the energon shed was for nothing.

I will guide them - to the best of my ability - towards peace and cohabitation. And you can take that as you will.

Whatever I do will make Autobots uncomfortable, Optimus, because of that point of view exactly.

I'm not going to let that convince me we can't be constructive.

I didn't mean to cast blame. But you have to understand the pain that still lingers in their sparks.

Understanding that pain and actively avoiding it is how you're going to avoid becoming that. And maybe we have to do a little understanding too.

[After all, construction has to be done--progress has to be made. Megatron wasn't exactly wrong there.]

You keep insisting I have a legacy from something I've never done, Optimus. Perhaps you should take a closer examination of why that is.

You keep insisting you don't, and yet you claim responsibility for these Decepticons.

You can't take responsibility and not acknowledge that you--in some random outcome of the future, played a part in it. And that it could happen to you.

I claim responsibility for these Decepticons because no one else will. They may be your enemy, they were inspired enough by my writing to take up arms in my name.

I can't just ignore that.
