[ NETWORK: VIDEO ]
[ june's decided to post a video, mostly so she can establish that she is one of the few tiny non-Cybertronians on the planet, because that sort of has context for what she's about to ask ]
Hey there, June Darby here... Some of you already know me, but if you don't -- I'm one of the humans who was also inexplicably dragged here. Which kind of puts me at a disadvantage, as I'm sure you could imagine.
That said, I'd like to...give myself some more context for all of this. Would any of you have anything I could read about the history of your war? Most of you seem to be from the same universe, a different one than mine, so -- that's the version of the war I'm most interested in learning about, I guess. Got any...I don't know, history books or anything with you?

audio :
June Darby? This is Miranda Lawson with Systems Alliance. [ Not entirely a bold faced lie; she's technically contracted by the Alliance when their backs were against the wall. Semantics. ]
Firstly, I need to know if you're alright and if there are more humans either nearby or that you know of.
Also I want to request that I monitor this transmission to have hard copies of whatever information you come across over this channel.
[ She is asking but doing it anyway. ]
no subject
Systems Alliance? Hmm. Never heard of it. I'm guessing you're from a different world, then.
[ she's getting a little blase about that. you can really only maintain the wow factor on that kind of thing for so long before you start to acclimate. she smiles, though, warm and welcoming, but still very much interested in what miranda has to say. ]
Well, I'm glad to meet you, Miranda. I'm all right, so don't worry -- you know, the Autobots aren't so bad. They mostly look out for us humans -- and no, we're not the only ones. There are a few others, but not many.
[ she looks thoughtful, tapping her chin. ]
I guess I don't mind -- it might be handy to have that for reference later, anyway. But if you don't mind, why don't we meet up in person? I'd be happy to exchange notes, and I can fill you in on the situation. I'm...well, I guess you could say I'm a little more familiar with it than most humans here.
no subject
[ Not an explanation she wanted to consider, but one she had already anticipated given the nature of her arrival. Quantum mechanics were one of the few disciplines outside of her command, what with until a few days ago being considered pseudoscience in that regard. ]
Autobots? Are these a faction of some sort among the synthetics?
[ beat. ]
I'd be happy to meet with you in person.
[ Is Junes knows these synthetics well enough it would make tapping their communications network easier for Miranda. ]
no subject
Yeah, them and the Decepticons both. There's kind of a war thing going on. And they're not synthetic, not really -- they're as alive as you and me, just...made out of metal. And for beings that live for millions of years, you'd be astonished how childish they can be.
[ seriously, miranda, they are a bunch of babies. ]
But we should meet up -- it might be easier to explain in person. Do you know where the fountain is, in the city? That's probably the easiest place -- it's not like there are street signs to give you directions by.
Are the cell phone upgrades giving you any problems?
Re: [video]
Valeria! [ she smiles ] No, none at all. I'm pretty impressed, I have to say. What is it running on now, anyway? I mean, since there obviously aren't any outlets around to charge it...
[Anytime you want something better than that junky 12-button, you just tell her, okay.]
no subject
Well, that's one less thing I don't have to worry about. It's good to know there's someone around here who can help us humans out. [ even if she is a toddler, and june's still a little dubious on that point. ]
And how are you doing? Getting everything you need?
no subject
I'm fine. I'd like an adequate manufacturing infrastructure, but I can bootstrap that eventually.
[did june expect emotions? haha no.]
no subject
Well, I meant more like food and supplies, but that's good to hear.
[ she smiles, but taps her chin, looking thoughtful. ]
Speaking of supplies...how are you with medical equipment?
no subject
no subject
I don't know -- basic instruments, first aid supplies? Some measuring and monitoring devices would be useful -- just the basics for now, I think. I don't know exactly where our resources stand, but since it looks like we're in for an extended stay here, if we can find a way to synthesize some antibiotics and some other pharmaceuticals it'd probably come in handy. Sanitation is kind of at an all time low around here, and I have no idea what kind of microbes we could be dealing with. Nursing school didn't exactly cover alien planets, you know?

[val spaces out for a few seconds, eyes going distant and glassy as her little brain with its big horsepower works out the details.]
Vaccines aren't happening without samples of the infectious agents, and if we don't have any, we're also not going to need any. We're immunologically naive to the diseases of other people's universes, and vice versa, but if they don't come in contagious it shouldn't be an issue.
As far as drugs go, the problem is that most of them are complex organic molecules, and we don't have any of the precursors. Cybertron's biome isn't carbon-based, so we can't go pull the bark off willow trees and refine that into aspirin. I know the structures for a lot of pharmaceuticals and I can assemble them from elements, but the reaction chemistry is complex and often dangerous.
[you know, entirely unlike the fusion reactor she has in the corner of her lab or her growing store of weapons]
Trauma treatment is easier. I can reproduce the Cybertronian diagnostic beds on a human scale and for human vitals--Dad has something similar back home. Uncle Doom's burn treatment machine, too. [given all the energy weapons kicking around, gosh] We'll need to use nerve blocks for surgery if that ever comes up; it's safer than anesthesia and we won't have the right drugs anyway. Bandages are actually an issue, since we don't have fabric, but a thin polymer sponge should do the trick. Gloves and sanitizers, no problem. We can just make the Cybertronians autoclave their hands.
[that's a joke. probably.]
video;
[He runs a hand through his unruly hair. He looks tired, and possibly like he's only just got here. There's dried blood on his shirt and he's really dirty.]
I'd really like to read up on this war too if you get the information? I gotta know what I'm dealing with and y'know. Which of the giant robots who could crush you I should avoid. I'm a cryptozoologist who studies giant silicone monsters that are invading Earth through a crack in the Pacific Ocean, so this stuff is totally my jam.
But yay! Human party?
no subject
Oh my god, are you all right?
no subject
Other than being transported to an alien planet--which y'know, normally would be pretty sweet if I wasn't in the middle of some super important, world saving work back home--I could really use a shower.

[ MOM FROWN. but she's still looking at him critically, because whatever he says, he looks a little wild around the eyes and the opposite of okay. and with how mucked up and disheveled he looks, he could have been in some kind of accident for all she knows. ]
No running water right now, but there is water at least. [ she pauses, brow furrowing ] Listen, my name's June -- I'm one of the humans here, and I'd be happy to fill you in on what's going on. But let me check you out, okay? I'm a nurse. I just want to make sure you're all right.
no subject
[He tries to PRETEND LIKE THATS OK.]
--Oh, I'm a doctor! I'm totally fine, y'know, just a little hungry and dirty. And on an alien planet. With giant alien robots. That can talk.
[He pauses, running a hand through his gross hair and laughing.]
I'm Newt.
Skipper practically falls into the video feed, her silky brown hair badly tangled and smudges of rust on her face, and asks the most desperate question she has ever asked anyone:]
Do you have a hairbrush?
no subject
june looks at her with a slightly concerned and sympathetic frown, although the girl seems less concerned with the more cosmic consequences of their situation. well, everyone deals with crisis differently. something about her appearance seems...off, but june hasn't studied her very closely yet. ]
Afraid not, no. Amenties are kind of at an all time low... Are you all right, hon? I'm guessing you just got here.
no subject
[She seems to be working herself up into a proper state of agitation, her upset kicking up about five notches with every necessity she can live without, before she closes her eyes (her makeup seems to be perfect despite her general disarray) and takes a couple deep breaths, the heels of her hands pressed to her forehead.
This nice lady is asking if she's okay. (Privately, she consults her mental What Would Barbie Do handbook, which is very important regardless of if she's looking for something to help her or for something to rebel against.) She should... answer that question, right.]
Like, I guess I'm okay? I'm not hurt or anything. And the robots are totes fine. I've just never roughed it, like, for realsies before, you know? I'm not the girl scout...
no subject
Hey, it's all right. We're all thrown for a loop, winding up here. But you're not the only human here, kiddo, and I can get you set up with a place to stay and some food, at least, although I can't guarantee it'll taste like much. What's your name, hon?
no subject
Skipper Roberts. And a place to stay would be nice. [It's not like Skipper can be hurt by exposure or hunger or lack of Jacuzzis, but sleeping under the stars isn't her idea of a good time.] Thanks. Uh, if you need help with anything, like, electronic or whatever, I'm kinda like a whiz at that stuff, so I can pay you back for the place...
