Optimus could take this opportunity to back out of this whole conversation, but might as well take the chance to act some questions while he was here. If he was going to be stuck on this planet, it would probably be a good idea to learn more about them and their universe as a whole. He definitely felt like a minority here.

"Actually do you mind if I ask about your title. 'Magnus,' does it mean anything in particular?"

"Title?" she says, surprised. "Magnus isn't a title - it's part of my name. My house name, to be precise."

"Oh. Yeah I suppose that makes sense. Guess that's one of those universe differences" Not like they would need a Magnus if they had the whole Prime-chosen-by-a-mystical-artifact thing going on.

"It doesn't seem like you think much of the party," he observed.

He was trying to imagine the Supreme Commander at this kind of event and was utterly failing.

"Right. Yes. Alternate universes. Still getting used to that idea." Ultra Magnus grimaces, and then takes a sip of her energon spritzer.
"I'm perfectly pleased with the progression of the party, as it happens. The troops have been decompressing in what would otherwise be a deeply stressful environment, without indulging in chaos or insubordination. So, no, I think very highly of the party. I just have no intention of participating in it." She's about to take another sip of her drink when something occurs to her. "Wait. Are you implying that Magnus means something different in your universe?"

Well that was a characteristically clinical view of situation, to be sure.

"If you weren't planning on participating, you didn't have to show up." Just an obversation.

"Yes, that's correct. The Magnus is the head of the Autobot Council. It's basically what you would refer to as 'Prime'."

"I'm here as a chaperone. My job is to ensure that the party stays within its boundaries."
She gives Optimus a look of disbelief. "The Prime? Really?" She shakes her head. "Well, I'm sure that whoever else has the title is doing an excellent job of it."

"I suppose. You really expect it to get that bad?" Optimus still didn't know that many people here, and therefore had no idea what level of mayhem they were talking here.

He decided not to mention that Ultra Magnus was the one with the job, considering how he was feeling about the situation himself. Even though at this point Magnus didn't need to worry about running into her own double.

"Considering we've had the same Magnus since the war, I would say so. I only hope they recover after Shockwave's recent attack; I can't say I'd want the acting-Magnus in charge for long." Sorry, Sentinel.

Magnus fixes Optimus with an intense look. "As I understand it, this planet has somehow managed to pick up six of the most notorious Decepticons I have ever had the displeasure of facing, along with a motley crew of unpredictable murderers and war criminals. And that doesn't even take into account the Decepticons hailing from other universes. I expect nothing, but I am prepared for anything."
