[ INTRO LOG ]
You don't know how you got here. One minute you were walking, sleeping, maybe dead -- then you're here, your feet suddenly carrying you down an empty street. Where's here?
Any Cybertronian would recognize this as their home planet, Cybertron, but it's not a Cybertron they've ever known. It has all the familiar hallmarks, but none of the specifics -- the city isn't one anyone here could identify, and even at a glance it's obvious that no one's set foot on the planet's surface in hundreds of years. The city and its surrounding areas all bear the marks of devastating war, of dust and rust collected over centuries. With no one in sight -- right at first, anyway -- there's plenty to explore. In fact, if you start walking, you'll find that your feet may just carry you in one particular direction.
A) The crater.
On one edge of the city is a massive crater left by some wartime weapon that seems to have taken out a large chunk of the surrounding metropolitan area. At the center of the crater it's broken through the surface of the terrain to reveal what looks like it might be a promising energon deposit. There is some strange but native vegetation growing around the edges, too, that no Cybertronian would be able to identify -- small, metallic, brittle-looking sprouts that bear a curiously organic-looking fruit of some kind that doesn't look like it's intended for consumption by any natives of the planet. In one rocky nook of the crater, light catches on the surface of a pool of water, which seems strangely out of place on Cybertron. On closer inspection, it seems that somehow an underground water source has formed a spring in the crater.
B) The center of the city.
If you follow where your feet seem to want to carry you, you'll find yourself in the middle of the ruined city. It seems that the center of the city was once home to a massive forum, and some of the pillars and structures still stand. At the very center of the forum is a massive, elaborately constructed fountain, although it has now long since run dry of whatever used to fill it. One of the low, inner walls of the forum has a terminal embedded in its surface, although it looks curiously ancient, out of place with the rest of the city, and unlike the rest of the technology still left around, there doesn't seem to be any way to power it on or operate it. There are a few scattered pools of water and a few of the strange metallic plants in the city, too, but they're not quite as plentiful as in the crater.
The planet was obviously once home to a massive network of communication relays, but those have all been long since destroyed. However, with the bits and pieces left behind and a few determined minds, it wouldn't be too hard to build a working, if rudimentary, one...

THE CRATER
"Here" had to be Cybertron. She didn't recognize the city, but she wouldn't, now would she? The weird part was that neither her on-board radio nor her wrench were picking up any comms signals. Instead, she followed the one strong reading she was getting, a power signature, to the crater--and to its energon.
That would be why there was a smallish purple 'bot crouched in the center of the crater, looking intently at a wrench, a briefcase forgotten on the ground next to her.
"Good grief, that's an extensive deposit."
the best of first impressions
Finding an Autobot surveying the crater was probably the thing that made the most sense of this entire situation. And while one of Sentinel's forces wasn't a problem, if this one was around it would mean there were more nearby. It also meant this one might have information on where they were and what was going on!
"Don't move. I'm going to ask you a few questions."
what'd she dooooo? DDDD8
"What are you doing? Let me up!" He might be the Captain, but this was entirely uncalled-for. She kicked the ground a few times like Rodimus having a temper tantrum to emphasize her point.
no subject
He takes a glance at the wrench - the surveying interface didnt make much sense, and he doesn't expect there'll be time for a closer inspection.
"What planet is this? Where are we?"
no subject
In fact, it was so uncharacteristic that... "Are you okay? Did you hit your head on something?" Despite being thoroughly pinned, Nautica still tried, with predictably limited success, to wiggle enough that she could see him instead of the ground and check for obvious head injuries that might be affecting his brain module.
no subject
The Autobot's concern from him was a little baffling, but it wasn't enough to abate,"Be more specific. Which state - which city?"

Soon enough, he crouches next to her, a hand extending out to the energon pooling in front of them.
"Quite peculiar, really."
A bot of few words, he looks up from the Energon, over to her. Smiles weren't something that the Prime was known for, but it's safe to say that he's at least relieved for the company. "It's good to see a familiar face."

no subject
"That's as far as I know. Perhaps some kind of alternate Cybertron, as everything looks strangely familiar, yet foreign at the same time."
He looks up towards the stars, squinting slightly.
"Perhaps we can find out when, if we compare star coordinates."
no subject
"Doable, but I'd need a table of the proper motions of several reference stars, and their locations at a known point in time."
no subject
And when it does, his gaze turns to the skies again, squinting to try and pick out a select few. "Give me a minute."
He's no astronomer, but even he can pick out a missing star in a constellation.

Which Sentinel won't do, because he's an asshole. Who's also pretty impatient and more pissed off than usual. Adding to the swathe of fat-ass robot clomping up to her, Sentinel is no different - being a good forty ft tall and covered in heavy golden armour. Like a twat. He makes no secret of his presence.
"Are you part of a surveyor team?"
dadimus halp there's a big gold mech i've never seen before threatening me for "insubordination" D8
She flipped the panel on the wrench closed, then rose to greet Sentinel, dusting the metallic Cybertronian dirt off her knees. ...Wow, he was tall. "Hello," she said, with a friendly enough smile but no sign of recognition, despite the Autobot logo prominently displayed on her chest.
validate meeeee
'Hello' god GROSS how dare you, he doesn't greet her back, instead just scowling. "Fantastic. I was in a warzone a few minutes ago. What's your designation?"
Sentinel is REALLY disorientated and confused, but conceal don't feel don't let them knowwwwww
not unless u ask nicely >:[
"I'm Nautica, theoretically chief engineer of the Lost Light, but since the Lost Light is currently derelict and probably in another timeline, I think that can safely be considered academic." She shrugged broadly in a 'what're ya gonna do' gesture.
"Nice to meet you." That was his cue to give his name, and she cocked her head, still smiling and not expecting him to burn through his benefit of the doubt nearly as quickly as he was going to.
pls
"Sentinel Prime. I would expect an Autobot to recognise their leader."
Maybe she's new. Or just. A shit academic.
everyone has intrinsic worth :3 /pats forearm reassuringly

look i don't know what's more validating than that okay
its true nautica is a saint tbh

Re: THE CRATER
His audiols pick up a murmuring from behind a pile of rubble in the center of the crater where a figure is crouched over what appears to be a... wrench? He is unsure of the faction but the figure does not look familiar. Regardless he is determined to glean whatever information he can out of the stranger.
He clears his throat, approaching in heavy footfalls befitting of his heavy war-frame. He's hoping to use either rank, if this is a loyal Decepticon or pure, unfettered terror and a reliable reputation, if they happen to be an Autobot or member of The List. Regardless he will be getting answers.
"Hello there." He purrs, the warm timber of his voice a deceptive comfort.
no subject
"Hmm?" She snapped the sensor panel closed and stood up, dusting metallic Cybertronian dirt from her knees as she turned...and revealed the Autobrand at the base of her neck. Tarn was considerably taller, so after a split second of staring at his chest, she looked up to politely meet his gaze.
And promptly failed to freeze in terror.
That sure was a Decepticon logo where most mechs kept their faces, which struck her as a little weird, but today had been a weird day in general, and Nautica merely cocked her head in bemusement.
"Hello." Her voice couldn't compete with his, but it was still a pleasant greeting paired with a friendly smile.
no subject
"All alone, are we, little Autobot? What a shame." He leans down to better look her in the eye, dark optics peircing from behind the smooth metal of the mask, "What could you possibly you up to?"
no subject
Assuming she ever got back. Nautica pushed the thought aside, but it lent conviction to the unimpressed frown she directed at Tarn for his trouble. Wrench dangling loosely from one hand, she folded her arms and continued not to cower, or indeed even take a step back despite Tarn looming. "Dial it down a notch, Mister. I'm perfectly willing to chat, but not if you're going to be a jerk about it."
no subject
Fascinating.
He supposes he should educate her on who he is. He is sure that there is not a single functioning Autobot who hasn't at least heard of the Decepticon Justice Division. Perhaps that will get some sort of response.
"Forgive me. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Tarn, of the Decepticon Justice Division."
There. That should do it.

Panic relatively over, he's now far too intently interested in this apparent wonder wrench.
itt: beautiful cinnamon rolls
Huh, that didn't happen very often.
"I don't think we've met." Until Nightbeat told her several pages after where she was from, she wouldn't even know about Overlord, so there was no way she knew about Pipes. "I'm Nautica." She shifted her wrench to her left hand and offered her right to shake.
aww ye
"Nice to meet you! Where did you get the wrench from? Sounds like something I need to add to my arsenal."
